Hostel Ozz Nice — Where I Stayed
Hostel Ozz Nice is the hostel I actually stayed at in Nice, so this is the option on this list I can personally speak about.
The biggest advantage for me was the location near Nice-Ville train station. I was traveling around the French Riviera, so being this close to the station made it much easier to use Nice as a base and take trips to places like Monaco, Menton, Antibes, and Cannes.
It’s also a good option if you’re traveling solo and want more of a traditional hostel atmosphere rather than somewhere that feels completely anonymous.
I wouldn’t choose it if your main priority is being right by the beach, but for exploring Nice and especially for traveling around the French Riviera by train, the location worked really well for me.

SLO Hostel Nice
If I were looking for a hostel in Nice that gives you the best overall combination of location, design, comfort, and atmosphere, SLO Hostel Nice would be high on my list.
It has a much more modern feel than the basic budget hostels you’ll find around the city, while still keeping the shared hostel setup that makes it a good option for solo travelers.
The location is another big advantage. You’re close to central Nice and within easy reach of the main areas you’ll want to explore, which matters when you’re only in the city for a few days.
I’d choose SLO if you want a hostel that feels a little more polished without giving up the social side of staying in a hostel.

Villa Saint Exupery Beach Hostel
If you want to stay closer to the beach, Villa Saint Exupery Beach Hostel is one of the options worth checking.
The location is the main selling point here. You’re much closer to the part of Nice that most people actually come to enjoy — the Mediterranean, Promenade des Anglais, and the old town.
That makes it particularly convenient if you want to spend your days going between the beach and the city rather than staying around the train station.
I’d compare the price carefully with the other hostels on this list because Nice can get expensive, but if the rates work for your dates, the location makes this a very appealing option.

I would prioritize SLO or Hostel Ozz if the prices are similar, but if Antares is considerably cheaper for your dates, it can make sense as a budget base for exploring the region.

If you want the best overall option, I’d look at SLO Hostel Nice. For a more social backpacker experience, Hostel Ozz is the one I’d consider first.
If being close to the beach is important, Villa Saint Exupery Beach Hostel has the advantage, while Antares makes sense if you’re trying to keep accommodation costs down and plan to spend your days exploring.
I’d also strongly consider the hostel’s location if you’re planning to use Nice as a base for the French Riviera. Being close to the train station can be incredibly useful when you’re doing multiple day trips, even if it isn’t the most scenic part of the city.

That said, I still think SLO Hostel Nice is the stronger overall option if you want something more modern and polished. Villa Saint Exupery Beach Hostel makes more sense if being closer to the beach is your priority, while Antares Hostel is worth checking if you’re mainly trying to keep costs down.
For most travelers, I’d choose based on location first, then compare prices for your dates.
