About Me

Hi, I’m Rita
I’m a Portuguese solo traveler, travel blogger, content creator and the woman behind She Is Lost Around The World.
I’ve been backpacking for over a decade, and what started as taking every trip I could afford has turned into a mission to visit every country in the world. So far, I’ve visited 62 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Central & South America, always planning the next destination before I’ve even finished the current one.
Travel has never been about luxury for me. Most of my trips have been on a backpacker’s budget, staying in hostels, using public transportation, and figuring things out as I go. I’ve learned that some of the best experiences happen when things don’t go according to plan, and that’s exactly the kind of travel I love – as if I have a choice considering my travels are usually full of chaos, things going wrong, and stories worthy of a netflix series at this point.

Before traveling full-time, I spent seven years working as a flight attendant. Although my job took me to different places, I always kept traveling independently whenever I had the chance. Eventually, I realized I wanted to experience countries on my own schedule instead of waiting for annual leave or short breaks.

So I made the decision to leave my job and give full-time travel a chance.
It hasn’t always been easy. It actually has been incredibly hard but I’ll leave that for the stories on the blog.
Like most people building something from scratch, I’ve had to figure things out as I go. This blog is part of that journey. I created it because I was tired of reading travel guides that all sounded the same and often didn’t answer the questions I actually had before visiting a destination.
I write honest destination guides based on my own experience, including realistic itineraries, solo travel advice, practical logistics, and straightforward opinions about whether I think a place is actually worth visiting. If somewhere disappointed me, I’ll say it. If I loved it, I’ll tell you why.

Whether you’re planning your first solo trip, looking for inspiration for your next destination, or simply trying to work out how many days you really need somewhere, I hope these guides make planning your trip a little easier.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you find something here that helps you plan your next adventure.
See you somewhere around world,
Rita
