The Empire is much more than somewhere to sleep. It’s a huge resort overlooking the South China Sea, with pools, restaurants, gardens, and plenty of space to actually spend time at the property.

It’s also easily the most expensive option on this list, but if you want the full luxury experience in Brunei and the price isn’t an issue, this is the one to book.

The Rizqun International Hotel is one of the better-known hotels in Bandar Seri Begawan and a solid option if you want something comfortable without going all the way up to Empire-level luxury.

Which Hotel in Brunei Should You Choose?

If you want the full luxury experience, stay at The Empire. It’s in a completely different category from the other hotels on this list.

For a comfortable stay in Bandar Seri Begawan, I’d personally choose the Radisson. It gives you a good balance of comfort, location, and practicality without paying for a resort I probably wouldn’t take full advantage of.

If location is your main priority, The Brunei Hotel is worth considering, while The Rizqun and CentrePoint are good options around Gadong.

Where to Stay in Bandar Seri Begawan

Bandar Seri Begawan doesn’t have a huge selection of hotels, so I’d focus more on what kind of stay you want rather than trying to compare dozens of options.

If you want to be close to the main sights and explore the city easily, The Brunei Hotel is one of the most convenient choices. For a more comfortable and polished stay, Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam is my pick.

If you want the hotel to be part of the experience, The Empire Brunei is in a completely different category. It’s outside the city and feels much more like a destination resort than a normal city hotel.

For something around the Gadong area, The Rizqun International Hotel and The CentrePoint Hotel are good alternatives, especially if you want to be close to shopping and restaurants.

Which Hotel Would I Choose?

For my own trip, I’d choose Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam. It gives me the balance I usually look for when traveling: a comfortable place to stay, a convenient location, and good facilities without paying the huge price tag of The Empire.

That said, if I were specifically going to Brunei for a luxury getaway and actually wanted to spend time at the hotel, I’d absolutely choose The Empire. It’s the one hotel on this list where the property itself becomes part of the reason for visiting.

Brunei isn’t a destination where I think you need to spend a fortune on accommodation. Unless you specifically want the Empire experience, there are several comfortable hotels that make much more sense for a normal trip.
