Hello!

Hi! I’m Rita, a 28 year-old Portuguese girl who has fallen in love with the world. At 21 I moved to Switzerland to study abroad and I came home with hitchy feet. I then got a job, saved money and in 2015 embarked on the biggest adventure of my life and traveled solo to 13 countries in Europe. This trip changed my life! I suddenly found a new side of me I loved and traveling solo became my passion. After 26 countries visited solo, all I want is to inspire other women to leave their comfort zone and find their inner strenght to conquer this world on their own. With my stories and travel tips I hope I can help you find your way as a solo traveler and make your dreams come true.

On our first night in Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡· we got t On our first night in Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡· we got to sleep under the stars ✨ in the middle of nowhere of the Sahara desert. It was magical!

I had no idea this was even part of the tour πŸ˜… we arrived at the place where we were camping and went up this giant dune. When we got back down our local team had the camp all set up for us and I love it so much 😍

We had dinner under the stars, lots of tea (as usual), went on a night walk in the dunes and ended the night in our little tents from where I could see the entire sky full of stars ✨

This is THE IRON ORE TRAIN in Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡· This is THE IRON ORE TRAIN in Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡·

It is considered to be one of the longest trains in the world with about 2,5km of open wagons carrying the iron ore from ZouΓ©rat all the way to Nouadhibou.

The iron ore train is also one of the worlds MOST DANGEROUS trains to ride, as you jump on top of it and ride it on an open wagon full of iron ore for a total of 18h!! And of course because of that you have some crazy people (like me πŸ˜…) who see in this a great story to tell and an Amazing life experience!

This was for sure the CRAZIEST thing I have ever done, probably the hardest too, but I would do it all over again.

Is this in your bucket list? Would you ride the Iron Ore train? Let me know πŸ˜…

πŸ‘‰ Got our car stuck in the sand

πŸ‘‰ Found a secret Oasis in the desert in Terjit

πŸ‘‰ Went for a swim in a weird tank in the Oasis of Terjit

πŸ‘‰ Had a picnic lunch in the Oasis

If you know me you know I love the desert 🏜️ If you know me you know I love the desert 🏜️

Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡· has incredible landscapes of desert around the entire country and this sunset close to Chinguetti made me so happy that I took the leap of faith to visit this country, one of the least visited in the world!!

I can’t recommend you enough to visit Mauritania and to add it to your 2024 bucket list. Trust me tourism will soon boom here and the experience will not be the same.

If you are looking for a raw travel experience in a country that is untouched by tourism and it offers you only pure local experiences and you are feeling adventurous, Mauritania πŸ‡²πŸ‡· is for you and you will not regret it!
