Whenever you plan your first trip to Paris you always have high expectations, right? People say so many good things about this city that there’s no way you won’t love it! Unfortunately I turned out to be one of the very few people that didn’t get the Paris charm everyone talks about. I tried, I really did. But in the end, I just couldn’t find my love for Paris.
Please don’t hate me for saying this. Everyone has different tastes and I guess Paris just didn’t give me what I was looking for..
I went on my first trip to Paris after living in Switzerland for four months. After five days in Paris I would return home feeling disappointed and somehow confused about my weird feelings for the city. I mean, everyone that ever went to Paris LOVED IT! Why was it like this for me? What did I miss? I still have no idea.
I’m not saying Paris is an ugly city, on the contrary, I think it’s amazing, very pretty and majestic! But, if I compared it to Rome, nothing gave me the wow sensation.
“So, which one did you like more? Rome or Paris?”
Every city/town has its own vibe it’s own rhythm. Maybe I didn’t identify with Paris in that matter, or maybe I didn’t enjoy Paris the right way at all. I just know I left the city disappointed. On the other hand, we could also blame this on Rome! The truth is after the way Rome made me feel, this was never a fair fight and Paris never had a chance.
Even though my first trip to Paris didn’t go as planned, I’m all for second chances! I know one day I will return to this city and see it with different eyes. For now, all I have are these mixed feelings.
